In John 15:7 "abide" is the Greek word μενω.  There is no Greek word μενω in 1 John 5:14 nor could I find "abide" in any English translation of this verse.( reference typo?)

The Greek μενω means to abide, remain, stay with.

I noticed both verses are on asking and receiving from God - God hearing us!  Is there something in this amazing statement you are concerned with?
